To register for a class or find out what class dates are available, select a class location near you, below.

Class requirements: You will need to have a helmet, eye protection, long sleeves, long pants, gloves, and sturdy over-the-ankle footwear. Note: This class is on a pass or fail basis. ABATE of Indiana assumes no responsibility for any student completion of these rider education courses. To complete the course you must attend all sessions, pass a written and riding exam.

Age requirements: You must be at least 15 years of age to take this class (under 18 requires parental waiver). You are not required to obtain a Motorcycle Learners Permit before you take this class. However, the State of Indiana requires you hold a permit for at least 30 days before you can obtain your license.

Class costs: Basic Rider Course is $50 for ABATE members (in-state residents), $75 non-members (includes refundable registration fee). Experienced Rider Course is $25 for ABATE members (in-state residents) and $50 non-members (includes refundable registration fee). NOTE: There are no refunds and registration is NOT transferable. Once you are confirmed, there's a $25 rescheduling fee.

NOTE: YOU CANNOT REGISTER ONLINE! You will need to print-out and mail-in a completed registration form with check or money order. A printable registration form will be generated by selections and input available on class location pages.

More Information: Passing the Basic Rider Course or the Experienced Rider Course waives you from taking the state motorcycle operators license test. You are still required to obtain and hold a motorcycle learners permit for at least 30 days before getting your license. A permit is not require to take the Basic Rider Course, but is required for the Experienced Rider Course.
